2024 Chrysler Pacifica

One thing must be said about the Chrysler Pacifica: it keeps us on our toes (thankfully not literally). The 2024 model is no exception. With a variety of powertrain options, including multiple hybrid trims, as well as an impressive towing capacity and fuel economy, it’s hard to find another minivan that’s so versatile.

This article is all about celebrating the greatness that is the 2024 Chrysler Pacifica. (If that seems like a strange way to talk about a minivan, keep reading). Here’s our comprehensive review and buyer’s guide.

2024 Chrysler Pacifica specs & pricing

Word on the street is that Chrysler is saving up its major changes to the Pacifica for down the line. As such, the 2024 model doesn’t offer much in the way of dramatic change. The Pacifica Pinnacle trim includes a new Sepia interior color option, and other trims have the option of Red Hot and Baltic Gray on the exterior.

Additionally, the Chrysler UConnect infotainment system includes a new Emergency Vehicle Alert System, which identifies oncoming emergency vehicles and notifies the driver of the need to yield.

Aside from those changes, the 2024 Pacifica maintains the solid features from previous models. Here’s our rundown of the 2024 Chrysler Pacifica specs, pricing, and trim levels.

Pricing

Depending on which trim level you choose and whether you take advantage of Chrysler’s extensive add-ons, the Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for the 2024 Pacifica starts just north of $41,000 and goes up to just under $62,000.

Trim levels

The 2024 models are a bit pared down this year, with only two hybrid options available going forward. Here’s a brief summary of each of the trim levels so you can choose the one that best fits your needs. In this article, we’re going to focus exclusively on the traditional ICE trims.

Pacifica Touring

The Pacifica’s base-trim, offering an impressive array of safety features. On the outside, you get 17-inch aluminum wheels, LED headlamps, taillamps, and fog lamps. Inside, the Touring is decked with cloth seats, first-row heated seats, and a heated steering wheel. Not bad for a base trim.

Pacifica Touring L

The Touring L takes safety to the next level with the added Safety Sphere, providing a 360-degree surround view camera. Additional safety features include ParkSense Front Park Assist wand Stop and Parallel Perpendicular Park Assist. The Touring L also includes available all-wheel drive.

Pacifica Limited

Next up is the Limited trim, which adds 18-inch aluminum wheels, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof and available Stow N Place Roof Rack system. On the inside, you get a luxurious look and feel with premium Nappa leather-trimmed seating, first-row heated and ventilated seats, and second-row heated seats.

Pacifica Pinnacle

If you’re looking for upscale, the Pinnacle offers a truly stunning design, with 20-inch polished wheels with Baltic Gray pockets and Platinum Chrome exterior accents. Inside there’s exclusive premium Sepia quilted Nappa leather-trimmed seating, second row captain’s chairs with removable lumbar support pillows, and a sensational suede headliner.

Powertrain & performance

The 2024 Pacifica includes both front- and all-wheel drive options. The standard 3.6-L V-6 engine can produce up to 287 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque, and is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. All told, this powertrain can reach 60 mph in 7.3 seconds.

Maximum towing capacity

So how much can the 2024 Chrysler Pacifica tow? With the all-wheel drive option, the Pacifica can tow up to 3,600 pounds.

Fuel economy

According to the EPA, the fuel economy for the front-wheel drive Pacifica is 19 mpg city, 28 highway, and 22 combined. The all-wheel drive option comes in at 17 mpg city, 25 highway, and 20 combined.

Interior features

On the inside, the 2024 Pacifica offers plenty of leg and elbow room, not to mention enough cubbies and cupholders to stash stuff to your heart’s content. As mentioned above, the interior materials vary, but the higher-end trims offer a luxurious look and feel.

The Pacifica comes standard with Stow ‘n Go seats (after all, it has a reputation to live up to). The Hybrid models, however, exclude this feature—where else would you expect the battery to go? It’s just as well, as with the seats stowed, you can fit up to 50 carry-ons. So unless you’re a hoarder, you’re probably good for storage either way.

Infotainment & connectivity

We alluded to this above, but every Chrysler runs the Uconnect 5 infotainment system, and Pacifica gives you a 10.1-inch touchscreen display with a customizable home screen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard.

Safety features

Standard safety features on the 2024 Chrysler Pacifica include automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, and lane departure warning.

Warranty & maintenance

The 2024 Chrysler Pacifica comes with a limited warranty covering three years or 36,000 miles, and a powertrain warranty covering 10 years or 100,000 miles. Hybrid components, on the other hand, are covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. No complimentary scheduled maintenance is included.

2024 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid

Let’s quickly walk through the hybrid version of the 2024 Chrysler Pacifica. This eco-friendly vehicle sports the same 3.6-L V-6 as the others, but adds two electric motors backed by a 16.0-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Together, these can generate 260 horsepower and 324 lb-ft of torque. According to the EPA, its fuel economy comes in at 82 mpg with gas & electric, and 30 mpg gas only.

2024 Dodge Hornet vs Mazda CX-5

If you’re in the market for a compact SUV, there are a range of options out there. Finding out which one best meets your needs can be overwhelming. That’s why we’ve put together this guide comparing two top-notch options: the 2024 Dodge Hornet vs Mazda CX-5.

2024 Dodge Hornet Specs

In terms of compact SUVs, the 2024 Dodge Hornet offers a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, four-wheel drive, and automatic transmission. There’s also the option for a plugin hybrid option, which you can read more about here. The vehicle features a range of digital infotainment features, as well as advanced safety technology.

Since the Hornet is only in its second model year, there are no significant changes. The only change is the addition of the Hornet Hybrid. This article, however, will focus on the traditional ICE model.

Engine, transmission, and performance

The 2024 Hornet comes with a turbocharged 2.0-L four-cylinder engine offering 268 hp. The engine is coupled with a nine-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. This powertrain offers confident and even sporty handling, which is impressive for a compact SUV.

Fuel economy

According to the EPA, the Hornet averages 21 mpg city, 29 highway, and 24 combined. Visit the EPA’s website for a full report.

Interior features

The Hornet features a roomy interior, especially for front-seat riders. The standard interior for most trims is black upholstery with red stitching, while upper trims offer leather or faux suede surfaces. There’s also the option to add red leather.

The Hornet includes multiple standard safety features, including automated emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detention, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist. Available upgrades include adaptive cruise control and a lane-centering feature.

Warranty and maintenance coverage

The warranty for the Hornet is fairly typical. Limited warranty covers three years or 36,000 miles, while the powertrain warranty covers five years or 60,000 miles. You can also purchase an extended warranty at your local Bachrodt Baraboo.

2024 Mazda CX-5 specs

Although it has a longer track record compared to the Hornet, the 2024 Mazda CX-5 lags behind in several key areas. Namely, it sports a weaker powertrain and less space in standard trims. Still, it presents some benefits for the average driver, so let’s run down its top features here.

Engine, transmission, and performance

The CX-5 comes standard with a weaker engine from the Hornet, with only 187 hp. Even the available upgrade only gets you to 256 hp. It also features a six-speed automatic transmission, as opposed to the Hornet’s nine. However, the CX-5 also isolates pavement imperfections and minimizes road noise, allowing for a smooth ride.

Fuel economy

The CX-5’s fuel economy varies based on the two engine options. The 2.5-liter engine rates a 24 mpg city, 30 highway. The more powerful turbocharged engine offers 22 mpg city and 27 highway. For the full report from the EPA, click here.

Interior features

The upper CX-5 trims offer first-rate interior designs that provide a comfortable, luxury feel. However, they offer much to be desired in terms of storage space, holding only nine suitcases behind its rear seats. There are also several cubbies throughout the cabin for storing small items.

Infotainment and connectivity

In terms of technology, the Mazda CX-5 comes standard with a 10.3-inch infotainment display that’s primarily through a rotary controller and volume knob, falling behind the standard touchscreen of the Dodge Hornet. However, it comes standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as Mazda Connected Service which include access to remote vehicle functions.

Safety features

With a comprehensive suite of driver-assistance technology, the Mazda CX-5 helps ensure the safety of all passengers. Standard features include automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control.

Warranty and maintenance coverage

The standard limited warranty for the CX-5 covers three years or 36,000 miles, while the powertrain warranty covers five years or 60,000 miles. There is no complimentary scheduled maintenance included.

2024 Dodge Hornet vs Mazda CX-5: Final comparison

So what’s the verdict on the 2024 Dodge Hornet vs Mazda CX-5? Which of the two comes out ahead? We’d have to say that prize goes to the 2024 Dodge Hornet, for the following reasons:

  • A more advanced interior with full touchscreen infotainment capabilities
  • More storage space and a slightly bigger backseat
  • A more powerful drivetrain and smoother handling

Although the Mazda CX-5 has been a strong offering on the market for a long while, the Dodge Hornet is making waves with robust features and a bold design. RAM 1500 Towing Capacity

What is the RAM 1500 towing capacity? How much will you reasonably be able to tow when using this vehicle? Is that enough for your needs?

In this article, we’ll answer all those questions. We’ll cover the RAM 1500 towing capacity, the features enabling that capacity, and standout features and capabilities.

What is the RAM 1500 towing capacity?

Boasting a towing capacity of up to 12,750 pounds when outfitted with the available 5.7L HEMI® V8 engine with eTorque, the Dodge RAM 1500 has plenty of strength for both work and play.

What engine options are available for the RAM 1500?

The RAM 1500 towing capacity is directly impacted by the engine powering it. Here are the four Dodge engine options that impact how much a RAM pickup can tow.

5.7L HEMI® V8 engine with eTorque

The available 5.7L HEMI® V8 engine with eTorque Mild Hybrid Technology System blends performance-enhancing and efficient technologies with the addition of an available extra 130 pound-feet of torque for a V8 gas towing capacity of up to 12,750 pounds, 410 lb-ft of torque and 395 horsepower.

3.6L Pentastar® V6 engine with eTorque

The 3.6L Pentastar® V6 engine with eTorque uses advanced technologies like wide-range variable valve timing and two-step variable valve lift to deliver power and efficiency. It features 7,730 pounds of towing capacity, 273 lb-ft of torque, and 305 horsepower.

3.0L EcoDiesel V6 engine

Powerful and efficient, the available 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 engine offers a manufacturer’s estimated longest available 4×4 highway driving range in its class, with over 950 miles on a single tank and a diesel towing capacity of 9,600 pounds. This engine features 480 pound-feet of torque and 260 horsepower.

6.2L Supercharged HEMI® V8 engine

Only available on the RAM 1500 TRX, the legendary 6.2L Supercharged HEMI® V8 engine is capable of achieving 0–60 MPH in just 4.5 seconds. The supercharger provides near instantaneous torque, has a maximum speed of 14,600 rpm and is engineered to withstand 1,595 psi—or the equivalent of nearly 20,000 pounds of force. The engine features 650 pound-feet of torque and 702 horsepower, making it the most powerful engine in the lineup.

How does the RAM 1500 achieve its towing capacity?

In addition to engine type, there are a number of other features that impact RAM 1500 towing capacity. Let’s give a brief rundown of these features and what they all entail.

High-strength steel frame

The RAM 1500 is constructed with a 98% high-strength steel frame, offering both stiffness and durability. Because of this, the RAM 1500 delivers a maximum gas towing capacity of up to 12,750 pounds, and up to 2,300 pounds of maximum payload.

eTorque Mild Hybrid Technology System

This system blends performance-enhancing and efficient technologies, providing additional supplemental torque to boost engine efficiency.

Air suspension system

When the RAM 1500 approaches highway speeds, the Active-Level™ Four Corner Air Suspension—an optional feature that’s available on Crew Cab models only—automatically lowers the truck bed. This reduces drag, while also helps with accessing the bed and cab, entering parking spaces, and hitching trailers.

Optimized aerodynamics

The RAM 1500 features an elevated hood design that optimizes air deflection from the wiper area. Additionally, a sculpted roof directs air to the rear spoiler. These active aerodynamic features give the RAM pickup at .357 drag coefficient.

Other features

In addition to towing capacity, here are some other features of the RAM 1500 that round out the vehicle’s appeal.

Engine, transmission, & performance

We’ve already given a rundown of the various engine options available for the RAM 1500:

  • 5.7L HEMI® V8 engine with eTorque
  • 3.6L Pentastar® V6 engine with eTorque
  • 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 engine
  • 6.2L Supercharged HEMI® V8 engine

As mentioned above, these engines vary in terms of horsepower, torque, and towing capacity.

Regardless of the engine powering it, every RAM 1500 offers an impressive ride, thanks to a rear suspension that uses coil springs, as opposed to the typical leaf-spring setups offered by comparative makes and models.

Additionally, models that include the optional air suspension have adjustable ride height, which can aid with fuel efficiency and off-road performance.

Fuel economy

Each of the available engines offers a different fuel economy. The 6.2L Supercharged HEMI® V8 offers the lowest, with only 10 mpg city and 14 mpg highway. The most fuel efficient, on the other hand, is the 3.6L Pentastar® V6 with eTorque, boasting an impressive 20 mpg city/25 mpg highway.

Interior, comfort, and cargo

The RAM 1500 boasts highly functional cubby stowage and plenty of space for passengers. While higher trims feature more upscale materials, all trims offer a sufficiently comfortable driving experience.

Many of the more notable interior features vary by trim level and customizations, but available options include:

  • Heated seats
  • Panoramic sunroof
  • Premium leather surfaces & genuine wood accents
  • 24-way adjustable front seats with massage
  • 23-speaker Klipsch stereo system

The RAM 1500 features plenty of interior storage and a unique split-folding tailgate. You can choose between 5.7-inch and 6.4-inch cargo beds.

Infotainment and connectivity

As with all other modern vehicles, RAM pickups include advanced infotainment systems and connectivity features, including 12.0-inch or 14.5-inch touchscreens, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and a 10.3-inch passenger display.

Safety features

The Ram 1500 has a host of available driver-assistance technology that range from automated emergency braking to lane-keeping assist. Key safety features include:

  • Standard automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection
  • Standard blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert
  • Available adaptive cruise control with a hands-free driving mode

Final thoughts on RAM 1500 towing capacity

With its impressive towing capacity, luxurious features, and unbeatable performance, the RAM 1500 is a standout choice for drivers who demand the best of both worlds. Whether you’re hauling heavy loads on the job site or embarking on an off-road adventure, the RAM 1500 delivers the power, versatility, and comfort you need to tackle any task with confidence.

Size and Design

One noticeable difference between the Chrysler Grand Caravan and the older Dodge Grand Caravan lies in their size and design. The Grand Caravan is renowned for its spaciousness and versatility, offering ample room for passengers and cargo.

With its larger dimensions and higher wheelbase, the Grand Caravan provides enhanced interior space, making it an ideal choice for families and those seeking generous seating and storage capacity.

Engine Options and Performance

Another differentiating factor is the availability of engine options and performance capabilities. While the older Dodge Grand Caravan offered various engine choices, the newer Chrysler Grand Caravan may come equipped with more powerful engines, providing improved acceleration and towing capabilities.

It’s worth noting that specific engine options may vary across different model years and trim levels.

Brand Identity and Features

The transition from the Dodge brand to Chrysler brings subtle changes in branding and available features. While the older Dodge Grand Caravan carried the Dodge logo and branding, the Chrysler Grand Caravan adopted the Chrysler emblem and design language.

However, both vehicles retain their commitment to comfort, convenience, and safety features.

Seating Capacity

Next, let’s look at seating capacity. This is another point of distinction between the Chrysler Grand Caravan and the older Dodge Grand Caravan. The Chrysler Grand Caravan can accommodate up to seven passengers, whereas some older Dodge Grand Caravan models may offer seating for up to eight passengers.

The difference in seating capacity may depend on the specific trim level and configuration.

Continuation of Minivan Excellence

Whether you choose the Chrysler Grand Caravan or the older Dodge Grand Caravan, you can expect a reliable and comfortable minivan that caters to your needs. To make an informed decision, visit a dealership, explore the available options, and consider your minivan sales and purchasing requirements.
