The Ram 1500 just entered into a new year, which means the burning question for people looking to buy a new truck this year is: what are the biggest changes for the 2024 vs 2025 Ram 1500? 

This question is especially poignant because 2024 featured few changes from 2023, so everyone’s expecting a lot this year. But these two models are both equally solid, and if you’re in the market there’s a lot to get excited about either way.

2024 Ram 1500: Specs & features

The 2024 Ram 1500 doesn’t feature many changes over the 2023, but it’s a solid, powerful truck nonetheless.The Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) varies by trim level, but it runs from $41,415 all the way up to $67,805. 

Powertrain & performance

The 2024 Ram 1500 includes two engine options, including a 3.6-L V-6 that produces 305 horsepower, and a 5.7-L V-8 that produces 395 horsepower. A 48-volt hybrid system assists both engines. Every Ram 1500 features a rear suspension with standard coil springs, or available air springs. Vehicles equipped with air suspension have an adjustable ride height, which significantly enhances fuel efficiency (more on that below). 

Towing & payload capacity

The 2024 Ram 1500 can tow up to 12,750 pounds and carry a payload of up to 2,230 pounds. 

Fuel economy

According to the EPA, the gas mileage of the 2024 Ram 1500 varies based on engine used and front- vs. all-wheel drive. The lowest configuration runs at 10 mpg city, 14 highway, for 12 combined. The least thirsty option runs at 20 mpg city, 26 highway, and 23 combined. 

Interior features

On the inside, the 2024 Ram 1500 sports functional cubby storage and plenty of leg and passenger room. There’s the option to add more upscale materials for the higher trims—like heated and ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof, and premium leather surfaces—for a more luxury feel. 

The 2024 Ram includes a split-folding tailgate, plus the option for 5.7-inch and 6.4-inch cargo beds. 

Infotainment and connectivity

The base model for the 2024 Ram 1500 comes standard with an 8.4-inch, but all other trims include a 12.0-inch option. Both include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as several redundant buttons and knobs to reduce distractions and maintain safe driving. 

Safety features

Available safety features for the Ram 1500 include blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high-beam headlights, and adaptive cruise control. 

Warranty & maintenance coverage

Ram offers a competitive warranty package, with a limited warranty covering three years or 36,000 miles, and a powertrain warranty covering five years or 50,000 miles. No complimentary scheduled maintenance is included. This package is the same for the 2024 and 2025 Ram 1500 models. 

2025 Ram 1500: Specs & features

Now, let’s take a look at the newest Ram 1500 model, launched only a few months ago. The 2025 Ram 1500 features an impressive slew of upgrades, including a 540-hp twin-turbo inline six engine to replace the V-8, new high-end trims, a standard 12.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, and more. 

The MSRP for the 2025 Ram 1500 ranges from $42,270 all the way up to $89,070, depending on your trim level and other options. 

Powertrain & performance

As mentioned above, the 2025 Ram 1500 offers two engine options: a V-6 and twin-turbo inline-six Hurricane. Both powertrains pair with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and the base V-6 is assisted by a 48-volt hybrid system. All in all, the V-6 powertrain produces 305 horsepower, while the Hurricane produces between 420 and 540 horsepower. Obviously, this is a major improvement over last year’s model. 

Additionally, the 2025 Ram 1500 keeps the rear suspension with standard coil springs. And there’s an optional air suspension with adjustable ride height, which enhances fuel efficiency and off-road performance. 

Towing & payload capacity

The maximum towing capacity for the 2025 Ram 1500 is 11,580 pounds. The maximum payload capacity is 2,300 pounds. 

Fuel economy

According to the EPA, the 2025 Ram 1500 with the turbocharged inline-six has a fuel economy of 18 mp city and 25 highway. Alternatively, the base V-6 offers 20 mpg city and 25 highway. 

Interior features

Just like the 2024 model, the Ram 1500 includes plenty of cubby stowage and passenger space. Additionally, there are options to add additional upscale materials and creature comforts to offer a more luxury feel. Most models have available luxury features like heated and ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof, and premium leather surfaces. The 2025 model also includes the options for 5.7-inch and 6.4-inch cargo beds. So all in all, much the same as last year’s model. 

Infotainment & connectivity

The infotainment system for the 2025 Ram 1500 gets an upgrade, with the 12.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system coming standard. Additionally, there’s an available 14.5-inch. Both support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Finally, there’s an available 10.3-inch passenger display with access to various entertainment & navigation functions. 

Safety features

The 2025 Ram 1500 comes standard with more safety features than last year’s model, including standard automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. There’s also an available adaptive cruise control with hands-free driving mode.
